"I never really participated in any contests or competitions before, and had a personal exhibition only once in the summer of 2006. So, winning the Mamiya Award of Excellence for my commercial portfolio really meant the world to me. Being a photographer, it's hard to always feel confident about your images. A true artist is always critical of their work. Showing my photography to people is almost like exposing a part of my soul. When my images not only meet a warm response, but earn some recognition - I know my art is making a change in this world."
